HISTORY

It is very difficult to summarize a career of almost 160 years; we therefore now present some of the most important milestones the company has reached over the course of its history.

1858 – The year everything started

‘La Casualidad’ is founded by Antonio Elósegui in Tolosa (Gipuzkoa), with all production processes integrated, from the fabric to the finishing operations.

1878

Introduction of mechanical fabric production.

1883

The introduction of rectilinear mechanical tissue 8 heads incremented the production to 150-200 per person and per day.

1900

Production for countries such as Spain, France, Germany, England, USA, South America, the Philippines… becoming an international company.

1918

Approximately 200 operators working and producing 3500 berets per day.

1920

The grandchildren stand in, taking on the name ‘Nietos de Antonio Elósegui’ (Antonio Elósegui’s Grandchildren).

1967

The company changes its name to ‘Boinas Elósegui’ (Elósegui’s Berets).

1979

The headquarters move to the Usabal neighbourhood, also in Tolosa, with a 3500m2 factory.

2008

Creation of the ‘150th Anniversary Beret’, for 150 years of Boinas Elósegui.

2016

Continual renewal and improvement of processes and products for men and women.

2018

The 160th Anniversary of Boinas Elósegui!
